Imus, Cavite is the de jure capital of the Cavite province. It is a buzzling town that celebrates a lot of fiestas. It is also home to a lot of churches and nearby cafes which people go to after!

History of Imus 🇵🇭

Imus, once a visita of Cavite Viejo (now Kawit), is among the oldest administrative areas in Cavite. Cavite Viejo was governed by the Jesuits until 1686, when the Recollects assumed control over Imus. From then on, efforts were made to gain independence from both the ecclesiastical and civil authority of Cavite Viejo, leading to Imus’ eventual liberation.

The church lands that had linked Imus to Cavite Viejo since the early 1600s were addressed through the Royal Order issued on October 30, 1776. This decree marked an initial step toward establishing Imus as its own municipality. Not satisfied with merely achieving religious independence, the Recollects also pushed for political autonomy. Their efforts succeeded when Imus was officially recognized as an independent municipality in 1795.

Attractions⭐

⛪ Visit the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of our Lady of the Pillar - Imus Cathedral. It is a church built in 1795 and is the main Catholic Church which Imuseños go to pray.

⚔ Take a picture at the monument of "Labanan sa Imus" (Revolution in Imus), a historical landmark in Imus that displays the first revolution at the Cavite Province and one of the biggest revolt against the Spaniards in 1896.
